We want to ensure that your child has a happy transition to The Bulwell Academy, and our work begins long before the start of term in September.
We make initial contact with SEN Co-ordinators in Primary Schools to arrange a meeting to identify the potential needs of students who we know will be coming to The Bulwell Academy.
February - June:
We identify and observe students who may require additional support during the transition period. An assessment of needs is established and a bespoke plan is prepared for each student.
We host a Meet the Team coffee morning for parents and organise tours of the academy for identified students with their parents.
June - September:
The team plan activities for the Transition Days, which take place in July.
We assess information received to ensure relevant interventions are in place, including (if appropriate) assignment to the Nurture Group.
Starting at The Bulwell Academy (the first few months in the Academy):
We regularly monitor and assess students’ performance and progress.
We identify students who are at risk of not progressing and review/adjust interventions.
We organise a Parents Review evening.
